sites (stuff like animal care, virtual newspapers, book interpetations,
and rape assistance) are listed first while social sites (newsgroup
related sites, friends' homepages, etc) are second. Webring information
will direct you to the page here or on someone else's site where the
webring actually exists.

- A versitile, virtual newspaper easily customizible to your own news
tastes, stock reports, television shows, weather and horoscope. You can
even have it send you reminders about important dates. Highly
recommended, and not just because Kirk works there. :)

Probably the most comprehensive list of dog care and breed FAQs you might
find. The first is a list of FAQs usually posted to rec.pets.dogs, the
second a list of information websites also posted there. You'll find more
practical care stuff in the first list, more breed specific sites in the
second.

Austrialian Shepherd HomePage
- All about the Aussies, the history, show standards, what kind of dogs
they are, etc. Good way to decide if they are the dog for you.
- American Pointer Club,
Inc.
- Some information on Pointers and this AKC sanctioned club dedicated to
them.
- Denver Dumb Friends League
- If you're planning on getting a new pet, consider adopting a homeless
animal. These are often great pets, and definately need love and care.
If you're in the Denver area, the Denver Dumb Friends League is a great
place to go to find a pet.
- Ferret Central
- If you need to know it about a ferret, you'll find it here. FAQs on
care, medical problems, how to deal with biters, etc. Lists of shelter
operators and veternarians that are familar with ferrets. Basically the
ferret-owner's jackpot of information.

Club of Missouri
- The only gerbil organizatin in the United States, that I know of
anyway. It says Missouri, but they allow anyone in the US to be a member.
Maybe one of these days we'll rename it the American Gerbil Society.

- The Wheel of Time FAQ
- Maintained by Pam Korda of rec.arts.sf.written.robert-jordan, this FAQ
contains all of the little details about the Wheel of Time series, plus a
good portion of the speculations about what means what, who killed whom,
and who's on what side about the characters of the books. Recommended
reading for anyone interested in the series. Pretty much required reading
if you plan to participate in the newsgroup any time soon. There is

National Network
- A telephone network started by singer Tori Amos dedicated to
unlocking the silence around rape and abuse. The purpose it to
connect people who need help with the nearest available crisis center and
counsellor. The phone number is 1-800-656-HOPE.
- National Center for Missing and
Exploited Children
- Call 1-800-THE-LOST if you have information about a missing child or
know someone who needs help getting home.

- A newsgroup dedicated to pianist/singer/songwriter Tori Amos.
Frequently off topic, espeically in between albums. On topic threads are
marked with an -R- for relevant to Tori, off topic threads marked with -I-
as irrelevant to Tori. Several other thread markers are explained in the
RMTA FAQ which can be found at the RMTA Homepage.

- All about the odd people inhabiting this newsgroup, including our
peculiar conversation habits and our ToriCon/RAINN get togethers. There
are even miniture biographies, called pfaqs, of many of the members.

alt.fan.aimee-lortskel Home Page
- Somehow or another one of the most prolific posters of RMTA ended up
with her own newsgroup. Here's the homepage about it, which contains
Aimee's homepage and archives of everything Aimee has posted in RMTA since
about 1995.
- rec.arts.sf.written.robert-jordan
- A newsgroup dedicated to the writings of Robert Jordan with it's
primary focus on his Wheel of Time series of fantasy novels. Frequently
off topic between book publications. Off topic threads are marked
with TAN, meaning tangent.
- The
rec.arts.sf.written.robert-jordan FAQ
- Maintained by John Novak of the newsgroup, it explains some of the
oddities of this particular newsgroup and why it seems to be always off
topic. It is very strongly suggested you read this before posting to the
newsgroup, as this particular group can be rather testy with newbies.
